Job Title: ICT Assistant (Network & Security)

Role Purpose Statement

This role exists to safeguard and optimize the University's ICT network infrastructure. You will ensure seamless connectivity and rigorous data protection, directly enabling the efficient operation of administrative functions and the academic success of students and faculty.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and troubleshoot ICT hardware, software, and network devices
Monitor and maintain endpoint security systems and network security tools
Drive network expansion projects, including Wi-Fi deployment and switch upgrades
Implement secure access controls and manage VPN services
Execute regular system backups and validate recovery procedures
Develop technical specifications to support the procurement of ICT equipment
Enforce institutional ICT security policies and maintain detailed network documentation
Support VoIP systems and structured cabling initiatives

Know How

Proficiency in LAN/WAN network administration and endpoint security monitoring
Expertise in hardware and software troubleshooting within an enterprise environment
Knowledge of SIEM and security monitoring tools
Familiarity with VoIP systems, wireless access point configuration, and core/edge switch management

Problem Solving & Accountability

Apply strong analytical skills to resolve complex network outages and security vulnerabilities
Proactively identify potential system bottlenecks and implement scalable infrastructure upgrades
Maintain high standards of confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive institutional data

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems
Minimum of one year of hands-on experience in ICT support and network administration
Proven track record of supporting 50+ networked workstations in an institutional setting
Preferred certifications: CCNA, Linux System Administration, or Endpoint Security certifications
