Role Purpose Statement

This internship exists to provide emerging professionals with practical experience in managing migration-related projects, enhancing communication strategies, and supporting policy implementation in a dynamic UN environment. Interns will directly contribute to IOM's mission of saving lives and protecting human dignity at borders.

Join IOM's IBG Unit as an intern to contribute to critical immigration and border governance initiatives in Kenya. Gain hands-on experience in project management, communications, and international development within the UN framework. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a global organization dedicated to humanitarian missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative, financial, and logistical arrangements for the IBG programme, including procurement and workshop coordination.
  • Support planning and execution of trainings, monitoring visits, and programme events through scheduling and documentation.
  • Liaise with government counterparts to confirm training details and logistical needs.
  • Conduct research and data collection to inform project development and reporting.
  • Draft communications, news items, and social media content aligned with IOM standards.
  • Prepare presentations, talking points, and training documentation as requested.
  • Support field missions by assisting with logistics and task execution during travel.

Know How

  • Proficiency in project management tools, strong communication skills, ability to work in a multicultural team, and familiarity with UN protocols.

Problem Solving & Accountability

  • Quick thinking in logistical challenges, adaptability to field conditions, and effective coordination with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (Political/Social Sciences, International Relations, etc.), fluency in English, and a commitment to IOM's core values.
