The Internship Programme at FES Kenya
Applications for internships are open for the period starting August 3rd to November 3rd 2026 for both Kenyan and German Candidates.
About the role
This role is designed to provide practical experience in project management within an international political foundation. The intern works closely with Programme Coordinators & Programme Officers to support the implementation of activities promoting social democracy, youth engagement, and social justice.
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Program Managers and Programme Officers and Director in coordination, accounting, and reporting of project activities;
- Conducting research on topical issues of FES Kenya work;
- Supporting the social media team by drafting posts or taking photos during events.
- Assisting with administrative tasks.
About you
Prospective Applicants should:
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited University for a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant field (i.e. Development Studies, International Relations, Economics, Environmental Science, Sociology, Gender Studies, Urban Studies and Law) or have recently completed their studies in these fields.
- Demonstrate interest in topics such as Just Urbanisation, Gender Justice, Climate Justice and Labour Solidarity.
- Be able to work independently and show initiative, within a team and with a wide range of people including across international contexts.
- Have strong communication, research, and social media skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Excellent organisational and time management skills;
- A very good command of MS Outlook, Word and Excel;
- Attention to detail;
- Identification with the values of FES;
- Willingness to learn.
